Berroco Yummy Ultra Alpaca Chunky is Here!

Huzzah! One of my favorite core wool yarns now has a big sister: Ultra Alpaca Chunky!! Cast on last night for simple, fast, easy cabled mitts and I'm in love with this yarn. It's exceeded my expectations and a dream to knit. I knew I'd love this yarn....just not how much.

A soft 2ply blend 50% Peruvian Wool and 50% alpaca. Soft, sqwishy and great stitch definition. Gauge runs 3.5st = 1" on #10 (yes! big needles!). Crochet it's 2.5sc = 1" on L hook. Nice yardage (131yds) and price ($11) too means it's a perfect yarn to grab for last minute holiday projects 

Both the hat and mitts are adorable! Love the whole Flapper vibe of the hat which is a super easy garter stitch square that's seamed strategically. 

Perfect glove pattern uses up leftover bits of yarn in colorblock fashion. 

 

 It's also perfect for garments. Warm, soft and big needles so fast!
