Upcoming Classes

Fish_lips_kiss_heel_small2

Sep 13, Oct 4, Oct 11 from 1-3:30
3 Sessions =$60

This is an more adventurous class for those sock knitters wanting to make custom socks. You'll learn to make a template of the foot, pick any weight sock yarn you'd like and master the magic loop technique. End result = a fantastically fitting awesome customized sock. Call or email to reserve a spot if interested

Cathy's homework for first class:

1. Choose your sock yarn with appropriate size circular needles at least 32 inches long. Or come early to pick out supplies with Kim's help. Pattern included in the class.
2. Bring to class either a) the foot you want sock to fit (ahem....the one attached to your leg); or b) a cardboard template of the lucky person's foot. Tips on tracing: keep the pencil vertical while tracing around the foot, and mark where ankle bones are on each side of the template.
3.  Watch Judy’s Magic Cast-on videos: Judy-herself on YouTube or  KnitPurlHunter's video
But don't stress about figuring it out! Just preview it to get idea of what's what.

4.  Be ready to relax and have fun!

Patternless Poncho

Fearless knitting is watchword for this class. No pattern just diving in and knitting or crocheting on the fly. Knit up a square (or two) then strategically seam or button up to create a versatile accessory. But not your old school style 70's poncho...we're talking totally hip, cool, creative 21st century versatile fashion statements.

This is NOT what we're making (although that stitch pattern is pretty cool.....literally and figuratively)

Or this afghan  man-poncho... (once again another cool pattern, this time stripes...perfect for a modular afghan...a body...not so much)

We call this class a "poncho" because it sounds so nifty... "Patternless poncho" has a nicer ring than  "Hip, cool, on-trend asymmetrical shoulder wrap thingy."  But that's what we're shooting for. Quick, easy no fuss, oh-so-stylish accessory that says, "oh this old thing? I just made it and threw it on!"
 This one is perfect example
This poncho is made from a simple rectangle, folded and sewn along one edge, with a gap remaining at one side for neck opening.
Basic rectangle folded, seamed with gap left open for your head. More inspiration: here, here, here, here and....I love this one too.

At the moment though....this is what I'm obsessing thinking about
(in frothy light Cirrus or Andean Mist)

Whatever the inspiration we can do this. Use dressy yarns for a chic throw for over your little black dress. Chunky tweedy yarns for a rustic chill-chaser poncho. Feeling really adventurous? Dive into your stash, mixing it up with colors, textures, stitch patterns as you go.

For the Patternless Poncho there's no pattern, no rules . . . . just playing with the yarn and big needles/hooks, making it up as you go. Giving new life to languishing stash yarns. Just let creative inspiration be your guide as you churn out oh-so-fashionable gifts for loved ones this holiday season. Join us for some liberating patternless fun.

Let me stress. . . . . . . NOT this poncho or the matching pants...

2 sessions $30
Starts Oct 25th 1-3:00  *will pick date for 2nd session at 1st one*
Call or email to reserve a spot if interested

Let me wrap it up with a little future trend prognostication....

I'm sure this is the next big trend in hairstyles...not to mention those cool stripes....always in style...especially when framed by lots of fringe!
