Crikey! LYS Day April 27th Here Again!

LYS Day crept up on me this year! We have three bang-up awesome specials for this year's weekend celebration of all thing LYS (Local Yarn Store): Double the Stitches, Berroco and KFI. Read on for details, then let's go shopping this weekend!

Again this year lovely designer, Jessica Ays of Double The Stitches (and Head LYS Cheerleader) dreamed up this little beauty:Trust Fall Shawl by Jessica always does fantastic pattern to support all us little ole yarn shops. This year it's a peach! She (like us) loves Jody Long Yarns and this one uses just 2 balls of Alba. (Yes, Jessica is to blame that I've cast on yet another new project.....)

*Buy this project yarn, get free pattern and you can enter KFI Lykke Lotto too!*

A pefect wrap for year-round, but especially for Spring flip flopping weather. I have absolutely NO business casting on anything for the next decade..... But....yep,,,,,this baby going on the needles tonight! I love working with Alba so its a no-brainer.

Come into shop to grab some Alba and get your LYS Day Promo Code for the free pattern (via Ravelry). Pattern available to download starting Apr 26th.

  • The pattern codes will only be redeemable for a limited time only: Friday 4/26 8:00 AM ET until they expire on Sunday 4/28 at 11:59 PM ET.

Our Thursday Shop Group needs a new KAL too. This is perfect! Hoping to entice my compatriots in casting-on to whipped this one up next! Join me on Thursdays 12-2pm at our Drop-In Group. I'll be working on this shawl (along with many other projects).

Jessica doing a Live Zoom KAL open to everyone

Jessica will meet on May 4th 7pm EDT on Zoom. Grab your yarn and needles. She'll show you the ropes, walk you through the stitches used and answer questions. Perfect if you feel stuck or just want to have company as you knit. Note: Cast-On Party will be recorded so you can watch later. Pre-register here (scroll down to bottom for sign ups).

Berroco Seeing Double Cowls

Once again like last year it's a Berroco 2-fer-Cowl patterns! This year they are busting out the color! Byte (Crochet) and Pixel (Knit) versions. These cowls are exclusively available through our stores and will not  be available to download on Ravelry or Berroco.com. Patterns Byte and Pixel free with each yarn purchase in our shop this weekend.

We don't stock Vintage (worsted) but do have Ultra Wool, Remix and the new Bozzolo-all perfect subs. Washable Wool, Recycled and Super Soft Cottony Goodness!
Bozzolo would be particularly awesome: amazingly soft to touch, lovely colors and gorgeous multi colorways. Using a solid with a multi could be so interesting! (Someone needs to try this...because I SERIOUSLY CAN'T CAST ON ANOTHER PROJECT...... lol!)

Knitting Fever Brands Lykke Lotto!

Always wanted a gorgeous set of Lykke Knitting or Crochet Sets? They're running drawing- 1 name for every 20 entries. Here's what you do: Make a purchase with us this weekend, email your receipt to socialmedia@knittingfever.com. It's that easy! (Be sure to have us email your receipt!)

Oct Mys Box & KAL!

What time is it?

 Mystery Box Time!

Keep scrolling for all the juicy details!

Last week was first day when there's a hint of fall in the air. Seeing trees trying to turn colors.  Mornings are coolish and the air feels bit less summery. Pumpkin recipes are flooding social media and we're craving comfort foods! Despite this week's heat spike, next week's forecasts the mercury drops and tonight is a chance of thundershowers!  Our Autumn Mystery Box promises cuddling up under soft, cosy wrap to ward off this lovely chilly fall air is just around the corner.

Wee Bit Different This Time....

This time round we know what's in the box up front! Our Oct 2021 Mystery Box is your choice Marie Knit Shawl or Elana Crochet Wrap, two new patterns designed by Melissa Leapman for Juniper Moon's Herriot Great, a 100% baby alpaca (omg....an amazingly soft & cuddly yarn). We lovingly say it's an affordable cashemere. Works up like butter!

For the Knit option, your "Mystery" is weekly pattern reveals during a new Melissa Leapman Marie Knit-Along starting Oct 2. Look at all the stitch patterns and techniques!

See that fuzzy bloom? That's pure 100% baby alpaca and it is bliss! Juniper Moon's Herriot Great is the yarn and we adore it. Seriously like working with butter and just as soft as cashmere without the steep price tag.

This Mystery Box a bit more expensive ($89.99) but Herriot Great is SO worth it! Plus we loved chance to dovetail with a KAL. Melissa Leapman will have zoom sessions and technique videos on her website. This will make a gorgeous gift for a favorite loved one too and holidays here soon!

Crochet Option

Couple of Crochet Box Caveats

  • Eliana calls for 6 hanks MC, 1 ea of CC1 and CC2 but......this scarf seems pretty dang long.....we think you could easily get by with just 4 hanks. Instead you can incorporate the CC colors to make up for using less MC.You'll only use a tiny bit of these contrasting colors so there's plenty to just add more repeats of the stripe pattern. Or just make the MC sections shorter. You choose.
  • We don't think this pattern is part of the official KAL so probably no zoom sessions or videos tutorials....but we're thrilled there's a crochet option! All same color options apply
Colors Options up the Whazoo!
Knitting Fever created only two colorways for the Marie KAL....but come on....we need more than that! So we dreamed up a few more! (Plus it gave Kim an excuse to have all the Herriot Great colors on order ship earlier! LOL)

Be sure to scroll down all the way for two brand new color options just added, not shown above!

LATE BREAKING ADDITIONS.......
Just got word this morning: More colors available to ship out today! Since eight color options isn't nearly enough (heehee) here's two more!

You can indicate in checkout "notes" which color your prefer for MC.....or let us surprise you!

There's a custom option if you prefer to choose your own color adventure. Just choose that option and include which colors you want, or come by the shop to pick out in person.  Note #145 below still on backorder and won't be available in time. But all others good to choose - even discontinued ones.
Your box will ship out/pick up Wed Sep 23.

Melissa Leapman says:

Knitted out of the softest chunky alpaca imaginable from Juniper Moon Farm, the Marie shawl offers a fun and easy way to play with color. Believe it or not, this beauty uses just one color per row (yes!!!) to create garter stripes, a cool mosaic pattern, and interesting colorful lace.

Join this fun knitalong with Melissa and her friends as we work through 3 separate sections of this amazing asymmetrical shawl. We will have optional live get-togethers via Zoom for each clue so I can demonstrate tricky sections and answer your knitting questions.

KnitPurlHunter's KAL: Match Play Poncho

Michelle Hunter's current KAL is a poncho called Match Play. Part 1 pattern and hints up on website.  Poncho season is here already and it's knitting weather! We have free drop-in sessions Sundays and Mondays where we can help and cheer you along.

The Sueno yarn (it's gorgeous!) is in stock. Come by and pick out your color. It's a scrumptious dk superwash merino/bamboo blend. Lots of springy bounce to this yarn. It use to be a Frog Tree Alpaca yarn that is now part of the HiKoo family. Nice to see favorite yarns find a new home. psst... it's also a great one-skein project yarn at 255yds...for those daunted by thought of a whole poncho!

Part 1 (Oct 4) consists of one side of the poncho to the neck shaping.
Part 2 (Oct 11) is a very short so there's plenty of time to still join in.
Part 3 (Oct 18)
Part 4 (Oct 25)

Finish by Nov 30th to enter the raffle prize: set of addi Clicks from skacel (plus maisie might have to chip in a little something for all those who participate and cross that finish line!)

As always her patterns are awesome with loads of new techniques and supporting videos that are hands-down the best out there. We love her Building Blocks books and can vouch for her ability to teach new techniques in manner to build your confidence.

Here's her faq's about the Progressive KAL's:

  • A portion of the 4-part mystery pattern is revealed here on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays in October at 9am Eastern time.  The weekly pattern, video resources and lots of helpful tips are included in each post.  An abbreviated, pattern-only version is included to download.
  • All questions and comments are monitored daily both here and in the Knit Purl Hunter group on Ravelry.  It’s like having  your own private knitting tutor!
  • Projects completed by November 30th are eligible for the monthly prize drawing – first prize is a set of addi Clicks!  See skacelknitting.com for all the info.
  • Match Play is a FREE pattern through November 30th.  After this date, it will only be available for purchase on Ravelry.  Be sure to download each portion of the pattern prior to this date.  Saving it to your Ravelry page will NOT save the pattern.  The helpful tips and videos for each section will remain on my website indefinitely.

Next year we plan to become stockists for her knit-alongs so watch for her next mystery KAL to start in Jan 2019. If you're wanting to join just let us know and we'll add you to the signups. Then you'll have first crack at the yarns when the arrive.
