Poncho Class

The Patternless Poncho class now has patterns! No sooner than I hit "send" on the last newsletter,  Berroco released this free pattern: Malemute

It's described as "ethereal" and truly it is. Three soft and fluffy yarns + dead easy pattern = Heaven! See that lacy-criss-cross stitch? A simple elongated stitch variation - easy but looks tricky. Big needles so it works ups fast, fast, fast. Just a big rectangle, seamed strategically, that's it. A great layering piece for fall and extraordinarily lightweight. Easy to throw over a t-shirt and jeans or a dress for more fancy nights out on the town.

Don't want a poncho? Just don't seam, use a shawl pin or brooch for a beautiful stole. Want a luxurious cowl? Just seam up ends to make it an infinity scarf. Perfect for holiday gift-giving season that is here already.  Pattern calls for Kodiak, Folio and Cirrus and #11 needle. Big restock lands in shop this week so plenty of color combos to choose from. Here's just a few:

Usually I'm not a poncho-kinda-gal but this one I adore and will wear to keep my shoulders toasty on morning walks to the shop, or on chilly nights staying up knitting into the wee hours of the morning. Nearly done knitting up the shop sample and it felt so lovely last night as it lay in my lap. Can't wait for it to be finished. Already I'm thinking about my next version. Maybe experimenting with colors or something self-striping this time.

Lacy patterns not your thing? Here's an alternative. A simple, chic poncho pattern: Grace & Style. There's 3 variations: poncho, shrug and cowl. Another basic rectangle, ingeniously seamed. I'm working on a shop sample in Folio on big needles and stockinette stitch. This yarn feels yummy at this really large gauge (sport on #11). Another accessory I'll use a lot this winter.

The Cowl kit has mini skeins of yarn and pattern. The bead kits contain the pattern and supplies and a handy dental floss threader. . . . because frankly that's the hardest part. . . . stringing the beads. Knitting up the project is a snap!

Megan whipped up a Stereo Cuff in a few hours (literally....just a few hours). She said it was a blast  (her exact words were "It's fun!) and it looks great too. Oh so very fashionable!

Laura's just released her very first book: Knockout Knits. Chock full of lovely patterns for scarves, hats, jewelry and accessories - about half beaded and other half not beaded - with a nice tutorial on knitting with beads. I've refrained from casting on this but.....oh it's been so very difficult! Check out her website for nicely done technique tutorials (my favorite: Zen of Kitchener). She's a long-time Craftsy instructor with four excellent in-depth knitting courses. We just love her here at the shop so to celebrate her new book.....

......Let's have a maisieblue class!

It's a perfect intro to incorporating beads into projects. When you're done you'll have a lovely beaded bling-bling to show off, or give as a gift.

Class:
Sat. Nov 1 from 2-4pm
$35 (kit included)

Call, email or drop by the shop to reserve a spot.
